Law and Motion files includes docketing statements, written motions, proposed orders, stipulations, and similar documents. Docketing statements are summary statements of the facts and issues of the appeal. Petitioners Vaughn and Sharane Fischer, members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, filed a petition on 30 June 1987 to adopt the five children, ages 5-19, of Brenda and Joseph Thornton (both deceased at the time of this case, though Brenda has recently become the second wife of Vaughn Fischer).
